If it’s true that the most important thought in a message should come at the very beginning, let us put this first: The MCC has no admission charge. All are welcome and all of us are valuable members of this community. Everyone’s contribution, no matter the amount, helps make the MCC the place of renewal that it is.
With these thoughts still echoing in our minds, we ask you to consider what level of support you are able to provide in 2025.
When we think of the things we love about the MCC, the things that support, uplift and renew us, we don't think of plumbing and asphalt and shingles. But those are part of the building that houses the community that nurtures us.
Yet most of our budget, about 75%, goes for our pastors and staff, and it's hard to imagine what the MCC would be like without their presence.
It's important to remember that the MCC doesn't just renew us, it offers renewal for people in the larger community, too. For decades, the MCC has provided an organizational platform and given spiritual support for our members’ work in areas like Sanctuary, LGBTQ rights, Haiti, and many people in need, all over our country and the world.
Our theme this year is RenewALL. When this theme was selected, no one knew how much renewal the Blessing Room would need. Thankfully most of those expenses were covered by insurance, but the MCC has had other unexpected expenses this year: air conditioner replacement, higher snow removal costs, driveway repair and other costs resulted in over $44,000 of expenses. Some of these can be covered by reserves, but we will also need these reserves in the years to come to cover other anticipated repairs and maintenance.
The budget team has moved to limit expenses wherever possible and after prayerful consideration we believe that the appropriate target request for next year's giving is a 6% increase. We recognize that this is a significant amount. For those who are able, we hope to provide a guideline that will help MCC meet its expenses for the coming year and continue to be a place of restoration for all. We thank each of you for your part in that.
Yours,MCC Stewardship TeamEdd Hellmer, Corkey Custer, and Pastors Jen & Nick
